Is anyone else overwhelmed at the idea of moving? How does one get everything ready?

This is a very common concern. Everyone agrees that the idea of moving can be overwhelming. The way to manage the reality of moving is to do one thing at a time, one day at a time - with a lot of help, advice, and resources - all of which we provide every step of the way!

You will receive extensive support for every detail your move, from early planning, to the day of the move, and then through the days and weeks after you move. We want you to know that no detail or concern is too small and none too large.

Our Move-in Coordinator will be available to each of you as early as this summer. This person will provide help and support until your actual move as well as through the weeks after you move. Please read below to learn more about what the Move-in Coordinator will do to help you get organized and feel in control.

Additionally, we have contracted with a national firm, Moving Station. Moving Station specializes in providing an additional layer of support and resources. They will work in conjunction with our Move-in Coordinator as well as directly with you. Each future resident will have local support from the Move-in Coordinator as well as a personal Moving Manager from Moving Station.

We will have an event to introduce you to the Move-in Coordinator and also to the folks from Moving Station. You will have plenty of opportunity for lots of questions. You will also receive a personalized binder at that time. This binder will be a great tool to help you begin the process of planning and organizing for your move to Woodland Pond.

There is no charge for any of this help and support. We want you to know that whatever questions or concerns you have about any aspect of the moving process, we have systems and people in place to provide assistance every step of the way.

What does the “Lifecare” plan cover? What does the “Continuing Care” plan cover?

Both of Woodland Pond’s long-term health care plans give you access to our full continuum of care and help to protect your assets from the rising cost of long-term care.

  • Continuing Care is included in the Entrance Fee. The Entrance Fee is always 90% refundable to you or your estate.

  • Continuing Care includes a limited number of enriched housing or skilled nursing days with no increase in monthly fee. After using these included health care days, if you need to continue to live in enriched housing or skilled nursing, you will stop paying the monthly fee for your independent accommodation and begin to pay the prevailing fee-for–service (daily rate) for the level of care you require.

  • Lifecare is an additional option which guarantees you unlimited enriched housing and skilled nursing at no additional monthly cost. With Lifecare, you simply continue to pay the current monthly fee of your independent accommodation. In other words, your monthly fee only increases based on the cost-of-living. It does not increase based on the need for more care.

  • Part of the optional Lifecare fee is also refunded. The refundable portion of the Lifecare fee declines (amortizes)over your first 48 months at Woodland Pond. This means that after 48 months there would be no refund of the Lifecare fee. If you leave the community before the initial 48 month period, the remaining unamortized portion of the Lifecare fee would be refunded to you or your estate.

  • You have peace of mind knowing that your plan controls your future long-term healthcare monthly costs and protects your assets at the same time! If a move to assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing is necessary, you will never pay the daily healthcare fee for any needed care - no matter how long you need the care.

  • Once again, all residents, regardless of the long-term healthcare plan they choose will receive a 90% refund of their original Continuing Care Entrance Fee.

Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to meet with you to help determine which plan best meets your own needs and explain all additional details. If you already have a long-term care insurance policy, we can show you how our options can make even a modest policy work harder for you.

If you have any questions, please call us at 845-883-9800. We are here to help you understand all of the details!

If an applicant chooses the “Lifecare” option and makes a 10% deposit, will that assure his/her admission to Woodland Pond regardless of a change in health status in the period prior to opening?

Yes, you are assured admission to Woodland Pond if you have been financially and medically approved, have signed your Residence and Care Agreements, and paid your 10% deposit - even if your health status changes before you move to Woodland Pond.

  • This guarantee applies to both Continuing Care and Lifecare applicants. In other words – you can always change your mind and get 100% of your deposit back, but we cannot deny your admission once you are approved. This guarantee of residency and care, even if your health status changes, is significant and should provide great peace of mind.

  • This is why it is very important to complete the entire approval process as soon as your financial and medical forms are reviewed and approved. Assurance of your admission is not in place until your Residence and Care Agreements are signed and your 10% deposit is made.

I know you have explained this before, but can I get my 10% deposit back if my plans change before I move-in?

Yes, your entire 10% deposit, plus interest, will be refunded to you at anytime prior to your move to Woodland Pond.

  • However, if you change your mind and cancel your agreement, and then decide to apply to Woodland Pond at a later time, you must start the approval process all over again.

  • This means you will need new financial and medical assessments.

  • Additionally, you will pay the entrance fees in place at the time of your new application.
